Maker of the Week - Lisa Comfort: Sew Over It and LisaComfort.com

Hello my dears!

The next Maker of the Week is Lisa Comfort from Sew Over It and LisaComfort.com. Lisa is one of those people that really inspires me to be creative every day. I am thrilled that she is here today to tell you a little bit more about what she does.

Mini Bio:

My name's Lisa and I run Sew Over It, a sewing business based in London, UK. I design sewing patterns and kits, and we sell a beautiful range of dressmaking fabrics on our online shop. We also run sewing classes in our London shops, as well as online.

This year I launched my own website, lisacomfort.com, where I share my other creative pursuits - everything from beauty tips and style inspiration to home DIYs and my favourite London hang-outs.

I really enjoy watching Lisa's videos on her Lisa Comfort youtube channel! She has some lovely hair and diy tutorials.

I'm currently on maternity leave after having our first baby, Jasmine, in May, so at the moment I'm relishing the time at home - though endless hours on Pinterest in the middle of the night during feeds means I've been dreaming up lots of new ideas for when I do go back to work!

Do you have a favourite hobby? If so, what is your favourite thing about that hobby?

My favourite hobby of course has to be sewing! I started making my own clothes when I was a child after school, and I haven't stopped since. It's my mission to pass on a love of dressmaking to as many people as I can as I think it brings so much joy. Almost everything in my wardrobe is handmade, and I love being able to wear something unique every day.

Do you have a “shameful” crafting secret?

Probably the lamest shameful secret, but sometimes I sew without pins? (Surely I'm wilder than this!?) What can I say, with a baby always about to wake up from a nap I need to take all the shortcuts I can!

Is your crafting space organised or more of a creative jumble?

I don't have a dedicated craft space at home - I just use our dining table, which means I have to remember to put everything away when I'm finished. I'm naturally pretty tidy anyway so I'd definitely say I'm at the more organised end of the spectrum.

What is your favourite colour?

This is a tricky one! I love blue - I decorated our living room in blue and I just find it so calming. But equally I love the purple of the Sew Over It shops. It makes me happy.

Do you have a little furry companion?

I do! My little dog Poppy follows me everywhere. When I'm sewing she loves to be by my feet, and whenever I get home she's the first one to greet me (usually with loud barking!).

What is your favourite book?

I'm not a huge reader, but my husband's mum is an author, so I always love reading her latest novel. Apart from that I'm more into non-fiction. Since being pregnant I've of course read my fair share of parenting books, but I love books about business too.

If you owned a unicorn, what would you name it?

Am I allowed to be a killjoy and say unicorns don't exist?? Eeek! I'm too pragmatic for this one. But if they did exist and I had one as a pet, it'd have to be named Bob!

Where can we find you online?

I blog about all my creative pursuits over at lisacomfort.com - think beauty, lifestyle and fun DIYs. If you're into vlogs, I post regular videos on my YouTube channel, and I share my daily goings-on on Instagram. I am a little addicted to Stories! And if you're a sewing fan, head over to sewoverit.co.uk or follow along on Instagram at @sewoveritlondon.

Thank you, Lisa, for participating in my series! Be sure to check out Lisa's Youtube channel and website for loads of inspiration.
