A Crafter's Diary: Entry One

Hello Friends,

The Mr. and I are preparing for one of the biggest changes that can happen in life: becoming home owners.

It is all so surreal and I keep holding my breath expecting something to happen and my lovely castles in the sky to come tumbling down around me. I am unbelievably excited to be moving into a proper house! There is such a settled feeling about living in a house instead of an apartment. As a matter of fact, I am so thrilled about this change that I don't even mind that I will be doing the majority of the work that moving involves. I. Can't. Wait.

In the meantime, moving does cause a certain amount of upset to my normal daily schedule. I have finished up all my sewing projects that have deadlines, and now I will be focusing more on my knitting. Since there will be a lot of going back and forth and I won't have my sewing space set up correctly for a while, a small knitting project is just the ticket.

Wouldn't this make a beautiful watercolor painting? I'm half tempted to try it!

There are two things that I am most excited about having at the new house: a screened in back porch (that will eventually have a hammock,) and a designated crafting studio. As my yarn dyeing business expands, having my supplies organized will become even more important. I am not a naturally tidy person. (Much to my mother's and husband's consternation. . .) But I have found myself craving "a place for everything, and everything in it's place." I do get easily overwhelmed if things aren't at least somewhat organized. It's just the lazy part of me that doesn't want to deal with putting everything away when I am done with it. Which is a bad habit that I am trying to work on.
