January Yarn Dyeing Theme: Howl's Moving Castle
Happy New Year!
During the last week of 2017, I made a great deal of plans and goals for 2018. One of which is my decision to have a monthly theme for my yarn dyeing adventures. I cannot tell you how excited this makes me! Having specific guidelines for different colorways should enable me to feel less overwhelmed by all the possibilites.
That being said, January's theme will be: Howl's Moving Castle! This is a Studio Ghilbli film based off of the book by Dianne Wynne Jones. I loved the movie and have seen it three times. (Actually, I'm in the process of watching it for a fourth time. . . We shall pretend it is only for researching purposes.) After discovering that the film was based off of a book, I had to read it. I borrowed it from the library and finished it in a couple of days. I think I liked both the book and the movie equally, which is new for me. Normally I consider the book to be infinitely better! There will be a full book review coming to the blog on Friday, so stay tuned for that.
Now that I've told you the January theme, let me explain a bit on how this will work. Nearly all the colorways coming to the shop this month will be inspired by Howl's Moving Castle. That being said, if I decide to have a fun day amongst the dye pots, a few one-of-a-kind colors might happen. The themed colorways will only be available during that specific month. If I find some colors are extremely popular, or that I really enjoy dyeing them, they may pop up throughout the year.
The first official shop update of 2018 will be on January 13 at 10:00 AM EST. I'm very excited to see what colorways I can come up with! I've purchased several more dye colors and I will have more of my new yarn bases available. I'll also be adding some sock sets and maybe a few mini skeins. All in all, I have some grand plans for my yarn shop, blog, and podcast throughout the next year and I cannot wait to share them with you!
