I am sewing up a second Jennifer Lauren Handmade Felicity dress out of some gorgeous fabric I received in the last round of Fibre Share. I haven’t blogged about the first version because it is yellow which, I have discovered, is incredibly hard to photograph! I have attempted three separate photoshoots none of which have resulted in good pictures. There were some adequate ones, but I’m too picky to want to use those.
I love how the Felicity dress fits and I’ve been meaning to make at least one more version. I am using a straight size 12 with no adjustments. I swapped out the skirt for a simple gathered version (which I am all about at the moment! See here and here. Plus I have another dress in the works that also has a gathered skirt.) with in-seam pockets.
The fabric is both lightweight and has a lovely drape which works beautifully with all those gathers on the bodice. And I love the combination of a subtle background with the pops of color from the flowers. Not only is it light and springy enough to be worn in spring/summer, but also toned down enough to look appropriate in fall/winter. Since it is sleeveless, it will be really easy to layer with cardigans or sweaters.
All I have left to do until it is done is add a zipper and hem it which I am hoping to get done in the next couple of days. Wish me luck!
