More Knits Ode To Spring Shawl Pattern Review

The day has arrived! Abby of the More Knits Podcast has released her latest design: the Ode to Spring shawl. This triangular shawl is made up of alternating sections of 2-color brioche and garter stitch. It is mindless and perfect for a cozy evening snuggled up to watch your favorite movie or tv show. There is enough changes to prevent boredom, but it isn't so complicated that you must be undistracted in order to work on it. I am so glad I was able to be a test knitter!

I've dabbled in 1-color brioche, but this was my first time attempting 2-color brioche. I was slightly intimidated, but I needn't have worried. I watched a couple of tutorial videos and followed the pattern instructions carefully for the first few rows. After that, it was a breeze. I love how soft and squishy brioche is! I will admit, the last several rows were quite long and since every brioche row had to be worked twice (once for each color) it did seem to take forever! But that is a minor quibble.

I used two skeins of Emmy Couture Yarns. The multi-color is a OOAK on my Tiria base which is 70% superwash merino/25% nylon/5% stellina and that sparkle is amazing! The blue is "Bluebell" on my Dumble base which is 75% superwash merino/25% nylon.

It took ages to decide which two colors to use. I dug out all the yarn in my stash and tried one combination after the other. I was worried that the two I chose wouldn't look quite right together, but I'm very pleased with the final result. So springy and cheerful!

Do go check out the Ode to Spring pattern on Ravelry. Even if you can't afford to purchase the pattern right now, adding it to your favorites and giving it some love is a fantastic way to support the designer.
