I’ve finished the first sock! Isn’t it lovely? Knitting it definitely took longer than my usual vanilla socks, but it was such fun to watch it grown as I completed each repeat of the chart.Read More
Have you seen Andrea Mowry’s Wool and Honey sweater pattern?? I fell in love with it the moment I laid eyes on it. I purchased the pattern the day it was released and that is something I NEVER do. Not because I don’t want to buy all of the amazing patterns that indie designers are releasing, but because I don’t usually have lots of extra room in my budget for knitting patterns that I may or may not use.Read More
In Episode 51, I have a couple of gorgeous finished knitting projects, a few WIPs, near future knitting plans, a touch of crochet, some sneaky yarn acquisitions, and even another sewing project to share with you!Read More
I can hardly believe I've finally made it to Episode 50! What a milestone that is! 😱 The podcast has been so unpredictable throughout this year that I wasn't sure I'd ever get to this point. I want to thank each and every one of you who has watched, commented, liked, and subscribed. Your support means the world to me and I am so glad I get to talk about all of my crafty shenanigans with you. 😘Read More
I've knit several cardigans over the past few years since I became more serious about knitting, but never dared brave the world of pullovers.
And then I saw Emily's podcast where she was talking about this new sweater design she was working on. As soon as I clapped eyes on it, I fell madly in love! I couldn't get it out of my mind. I immediately volunteered for test knitting, and started scheming up different colorway combinations.Read More
Now that I've finished my Lofoten sweater, (blog post coming tomorrow!!!) it's time to show you another project that I'm knitting. I am loving these WIP posts! It is helping me slow down and appreciate the process as well as taking all of my lovely readers (you 😘) along on the journey. It makes it so exciting!Read More
I am fairly convinced that Mina Philipp is a super woman. She is a fantastic knitting pattern designer who is constantly creating some of the most beautiful patterns I've ever seen. I've wanted to be a pattern tester for her for some time, but, as you can imagine, the position is much desired by many knitters. Somehow, I managed to get my name in soon enough to be a tester for her newly released Cumulus Hat.Read More
The day has arrived! Abby of the More Knits Podcast has released her latest design: the Ode to Spring shawl. This triangular shawl is made up of alternating sections of 2-color brioche and garter stitch. It is mindless and perfect for a cozy evening snuggled up to watch your favorite movie or tv show. There is enough changes to prevent boredom, but it isn't so complicated that you must be undistracted in order to work on it. I am so glad I was able to be a test knitter!Read More
And I'm nearly done! I cannot believe how quickly this sweater has knit up. I was getting rather stressed and worried that I wouldn't be able to complete it in time. But here I am, one sleeve away from having a finished sweater! Then it's just a matter of weaving in ends and giving it a good block. 🎉 Hooray! 🎉Read More
I think it is appropriate that the first garment I ever knit was the Miette cardigan, and the first "real yarn" garment I knit is also an Andi Satterlund cardigan design. I've knit a small handful of cardigans since I really got back into knitting three years ago, but they've all been knit from acrylic yarns. It is amazing the difference it makes to have a hand knit garment made from a natural fiber blend!Read More
As you will have seen from my last post, I am dyeing up yarn kits for a new sweater being designed by Emily Nugen of The Blue Mouse Knits. I'm also currently test knitting it and I'm absolutely love how it is turning out!
In this photo, I hadn't quite separated for the sleeves yet, but I'm well past that point now. I've finally gotten to start working with the third color.Read More
Or perhaps more appropriately titled "Emily can't think of any synonyms for the word 'excited.'" 😂 I hesitate to even entertain the thought of counting the total times I declared how "excited" I was! It was pretty bad. But at least I was enthusiastic.Read More
If you haven't heard of Fibre Share, then I HIGHLY recommend that you check out their website and prepare to sign up for the next round! In a nutshell, Fibre Share is all about gathering together a lovely parcel of yarny/fiber related goodies and sending it to a fellow knitting addict. Then you also receive a package from another fiber friend.
This was my first time participating and it has been so. much. fun!! I have loved every minute of it. I got to dye some yarn just for my partner and put together a package for her. Giving gifts is one of my favorite things to do, and doing it for someone who is just as crazy about yarn and knitting as I am has been truly amazing.Read More
I am part of The Flock which is a group created and run by Love Knitting. Every now and then they will send out emails offering free yarns for members to try. A couple of months ago I requested some of Red Hearts new Ombra yarn which is part of their "An Itailan Story" collection. I expected to get one, maybe two skeins of yarn. No. . . Know how many skeins I got?Read More
