Choosing Not to be a "Pinterest-Perfect" Blogger

Choosing Not to be a "Pinterest-Perfect" Blogger

Hello my dears,

I haven't the faintest idea on what to write about today. I know I want to write something, but my mind is just a blank!

I could talk about the glorious smell of the rain sprinkling down outside. Or plopping on the floor in front of our big window in the foyer attempting to capture a picture of the elusive male cardinal that frequents our bird feeder. Or perhaps I could tell you how much I am enjoying working away on my shawl test knit. But that all seems so inconsequential.

First Day of Work

First Day of Work

Hello my dears,

Today was my first day of work at my new job and I absolutely LOVED it! I am going to be working two or three days a week at a local quilt shop. Which means I'll be spending loads of time surrounded by gorgeous fabrics. Can it get any more amazing than that?? Yes. Yes it can.

Yarn Dyeing Days

Yarn Dyeing Days

Hello my dears,

Today was one of those days where everything seemed just a wee bit crazy! I spent the majority of the afternoon/early evening dyeing up new yarn colorways. While waiting for colors and speckles to set, I did a bit of knitting on a couple pairs of socks I have on the needles, read part of a murder mystery, chatted with some of my family via FaceTime, and generally kept very busy.

A Lemon Agnes - September 2017 Make for Minerva Crafts Blogger Network

Hello my dear friends!

Despite my general silence on the interwebs, I have definitely be busy! But less on crafty things and more on practical, moving and packing things. We have officially moved house and I am hoping to get my studio set up post-haste! Unfortunately it is currently in shambles while the walls await a much needed paint job.

Thoughts at the End of Me-Made-May 2017

Thoughts at the End of Me-Made-May 2017

And May has come to an end. Did you participate in Me Made May this year? I did, and it was a little tougher than normal. I got sick, and work was crazy stressful which zapped much of my creative energy reserves. (Enough so that I am looking at getting another job very soon, but I will give a better update on that later.) It was a frustrating and amazing month all at the same time!

Favorite Makes of 2016

Favorite Makes of 2016

And 2017 has arrived! Strangely enough, I'm decidedly excited about this new year. Normally I get quite morose about time passing so quickly and whatnot, but, at this point, I have several plans prepared for things I want to accomplish in 2017. I'll be talking  about those on another day, but for now I wanted to take a look back at my top five favorite makes of 2016.

It's a Busy Cleaning Day!

It's a Busy Cleaning Day!

Hello my dear friends, Today I haven't much to show you. I've been cleaning my little apartment. Organizing the pantry, sweeping floors, rearranging furniture, and just giving everything a polish. I have cut out my last Negroni shirt of the season, and my Christmas present making is well on its way to being finished! I cannot tell you how excited I am to get back to normal crafting. Making presents isn't a bad thing, but there is more stress, I think, on making everything perfect.

Our Wedding Reception

Our Wedding Reception

Although my husband and I were officially married back in July, we both wanted to have a simple wedding reception to celebrate, followed by a short honeymoon. The silence around here has been due to both those events happening this past week. We had a lovely honeymoon that involved visiting the Smithsonian Zoo in Washington D.C., catching a glimpse of President Obama, driving twenty hours round-trip to go see my family for a couple days, and then a final day of resting and catching our breath before heading back into the normal daily schedule. It was a whirlwind of a week, but I had an absolutely amazing time.

Projects in Progress

Projects in Progress

Well my dearies, I have been busy, but much of my projects are still in the development stages. I have also been working on Christmas presents, some of which I cannot show you since I don't want to risk the recipients seeing their gifts before time! I am such a procrastinator that I usually cram all of my Christmas gift making into the few weeks between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Since there is such a shortage of time, what with various festivities, family get togethers and other usual holiday busyness, I always end up with half of my presents unmade. This year I am determined that that will not happen!  So, on to the stuff I can show you.

One Week One Pattern: Days 1 & 2

One Week One Pattern: Days 1 & 2

So, have you heard of the One Week One Pattern challenge? It started this past Saturday. You can find all the details over on Hannah's blog: Cinderellis. A brief summary of the challenge: Take one pattern of which you have made several variations, wear the different variations for a week straight, and style them differently every day. I'm so glad Hannah decided to run the challenge this year! I participated a couple of years ago when Handmade Jane hosted it. It was one of the first "competitions" I took part in, and it was such good fun. It's nice to know which patterns can stand the test of being worn for seven days in a row. Here are my outfits for the first two days. I decided to use the Sweetheart T-shirt from Gertie's second book, Gertie Sews Vintage Casual.
