I am knitting a pair of more heavily textured/patterned socks for the first time. This is a test knit I am working on for Olivia of This Handmade Life. She has a bunch of gorgeous sock patterns available on Ravelry and several of them are free so be sure to check them out!Read More
I am fairly convinced that Mina Philipp is a super woman. She is a fantastic knitting pattern designer who is constantly creating some of the most beautiful patterns I've ever seen. I've wanted to be a pattern tester for her for some time, but, as you can imagine, the position is much desired by many knitters. Somehow, I managed to get my name in soon enough to be a tester for her newly released Cumulus Hat.Read More
The day has arrived! Abby of the More Knits Podcast has released her latest design: the Ode to Spring shawl. This triangular shawl is made up of alternating sections of 2-color brioche and garter stitch. It is mindless and perfect for a cozy evening snuggled up to watch your favorite movie or tv show. There is enough changes to prevent boredom, but it isn't so complicated that you must be undistracted in order to work on it. I am so glad I was able to be a test knitter!Read More
And I'm nearly done! I cannot believe how quickly this sweater has knit up. I was getting rather stressed and worried that I wouldn't be able to complete it in time. But here I am, one sleeve away from having a finished sweater! Then it's just a matter of weaving in ends and giving it a good block. 🎉 Hooray! 🎉Read More
The Miel shawl by Claire Walls is finally live!! 🎉🎉🎉
Now I'm normally not a fan of triangular shawls, but the benefit of this particular shawl is that it is quite large. The other triangle shawls I have knit in the past were smaller and didn't cover my arms when I wore them around my shoulders. Miel completely covers my arms and then some! It is a warm, cozy, half blanket shawl and I love it.Read More
I have been on such a shawl knitting kick recently! That is partly due to all the test knits I’ve been working on over the past month or so, but I’ve also just been enjoying working on projects bigger and more complex than socks. I actually have three more shawls that I’ll be blogging about when the patterns are released. (If you want a peek at them, they were featured on my most recent podcast episode.)Read More
I'm making a change to the podcast! From now on, the Emmy Couture Podcast will only be about sewing and knitting. That way I can keep them on the shorter side and make the filming/editing process less arduous.
I am still planning to produce more shorter videos and only podcast once or twice a month. I prefer to have plenty of projects and progress to share with you!Read More
I have two or three finished sewing projects that I desperately want to blog about, but getting pictures taken has been touch and go the past few days. Fingers crossed I can take some this evening and have a blog post up and ready before the weekend!
While I wait on that, I wanted to show you a few of the different projects I've been working on recently. I've been crazy busy with test knitting and I've also managed to start my Minerva Crafts Blogger Network project.Read More
